Step 1: Invite Yourself
Show up to the party.
Try something new. Become more of who you already are. Laugh uncontrollably. Or let yourself cry in front of your friends. The choice is yours.
Step 2: Prepare, Plan, Plot
Claim a small space and gather your creative tools. Digital or Analog. Tablets, paper, pens, markers, crayons, or whatever you can grab from the junk drawer or swipe from your child's bedroom.
Step 3: Express Yourself
Feeling curious? Sad? Happy? Anxious? Use words, lines, shapes and colors to describe your inner monologue. Each mark, stroke, or blob narrows the gap between your vision and reality.
Step 4: Time To Reflect
Look deeply at your magnificent creation. Connect the dots between what you see, and what you feel. Back it up with evidence. Even if that proof is, because YOU say so.
Step 5: Share Something
Try to encourage instead of critique. Love and honor your work like it was a child's stuffy. Or, destroy it. Throw it in the fireplace to show it has no power over you.
